The department of Program, Training and Youth Development Services• Created a resource packet for establishing programs for youth with Autistic Spectrum Disorders.• Designed a LGBTQ climate survey for Clubs to determine if they are LGBTQ friendly.• Evaluated BGCA’s existing sexual education programming and have developed resources to better the programs.• Created a resource packet for Social and Emotional Learning program integration.

• Analyzed surveys regarding refugee and immigrant health care in Portland and Lewiston, Maine.• Collaborated with the United Somali Women of Maine Organization in order to execute these surveys through the use of their translators.• Determined areas of need in terms of accessibility to health care for refugees and immigrant in Portland and Lewiston, Maine.• Presented survey findings, including policy implementations, to the department heads at the Maine CDC regarding refugee and immigrant health.• Participated in Webinars regarding refugee mental health.• Shadowed the Director of the Office of Health Equity, attending meetings that varied in topics from state budget and resource allocation for Healthy Maine Partnerships, to both state and federal level tribal meetings, as well as meetings regarding mother and child health and community-based initiatives.

This was a summer position only.• Worked with many special needs children, learning to adapt programming so as to be possible for all children to participate.• Planned activities and programs for six to ten year old children.

• Worked directly with the children living in the ARDC shelter.• Helped in an administrative capacity at the ARDC Adult Education Center, where refugees are able to gain basic language and computer skills to assist in finding work.

Worked with a team that developed a photo campaign entitled Because We Were Strangers, aimed at pressuring the Israeli government with regards to African Refugee rights.
