Leadership and expertiseI have gained deep insight into the key issues for higher education in Ireland. I have played key leadership roles in promoting innovative teaching and learning methods throughout the sector. I also have leadership roles in the Irish Learning Technology Association and the Learning Innovation Network, two of the leading organisations for learning innovation in Irish higher education. I provide a variety of staff development training for technology enhanced learning e.g. MoodlePedagogyI have published 14 academic papers in the last two years in the areas of innovative teaching and learning and have provided key note presentations for several academic conferences. I have organised three national and one international teaching and learning conferences in Ireland. I have significant experience in the area of collaborative provision specifically through experience of designing the Learning Innovation Network postgraduate diploma in learning and teaching and also the pilot project for Modular Accreditation Programme for Good Manufacturing Practice. Management, Communication and Interpersonal skillsAll of my roles to date have required strong communication skills, working with people across all levels of the education sector and other key stakeholders. In my current role I am responsible for a wide variety of projects e.g. the education initiative Springboard. These projects involve working with the staff across higher education, the HEA, industry and other key stakeholders.Financial & Budgeting SkillsThe flexible learning project has a budget of approximately five million euro. As a result I have gained considerable experience in project management and associated budgeting and reporting requirements. Furthermore I have organised several projects that involved organising consortia of colleges, both institutes of technology and universities, and negotiating significant discounts from suppliers.

I was part of the design team responsible for the Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) that Hibernia run in conjunction with Canterbury University in the UK. This course is delivered 100% through distance learning via the internet.

My lecturing experience in Tallaght has varied from taking large classes to small tutorial groups. Students studying chemistry for the very first time can find the subject very difficult. Therefore I had to learn how to communicate potentially complicated topics in a very simple manner. Furthermore, as part of my role within the science department I was also responsible for managing the on-line learning management system (Moodle™) for the entire department. This involves training the staff on how to use this system, running focus groups and manage the day to day running of this system.

The main role of my job was the promotion of science and the pharmachem industry throughout the education sector. Through this role I organized various initiatives ranging from international conferences for industry to training seminars for teachers.In addition to my promotional activities I was Public Affairs executive for PharmaChemical Ireland. This involved coordinating a positive media campaign for the industry.
