About Edwin Howell, Ra, Pp
As a freshman in high school I chose architectural drawing rather than mechanical drawing. From that point I knew I wanted to be an architect, confirmed when my design for a library was chosen by a panel of architects in a State wide high school competition.Being a part of the Philadelphia architectural heritage during college provided inspiration that I had chosen the right profession. An internship with a major Philadelphia firm permitted me to work on projects such as The Veteran's Stadium and office buildings that finally were permitted to be taller than Billy Penn's statue on City Hall.An internship with a firm in Trenton permitted me to be involved with design and construction for State buildings, schools, office buildings and large scale residential projects. I was then hired as the State's representative to monitor construction related to a mission change at the Guard base located at NAFEC in Pamona, NJ, between 1974 and 1977. This position allowed me to come home to the South Jersey once again.Once construction was completed at the Guard facility I worked with Robert Johnson, an architect known for his design talents. As studio manager I designed many projects, directed preparation of construction documents and assisted with construction during the infancy of the casino industry in Atlantic City.Having what I felt was a sound foundation in my profession I opened my firm in 1980. Since opening my firm I have shrived to offer the highest level of professional service for my clients. Effort is invested continually to update and improve skills and talents needed to provide those services.There are hundreds, possibly thousands, of decisions a client will need to make as their project moves forward. I consider it is my obligation, as their architect, to make decision making a manageable task while designing a special building for my clients.
