As a Senior Standards Specialist at GS1 Canada, my main duties include providing support to the Standards team by handling inquiries from key stakeholders, assisting in various projects, and developing educational content. I will also be responsible for facilitating or participating in education sessions to promote understanding and adoption of GS1 standards.A significant aspect of this role will involve serving as the primary point of contact for GTIN Ombudsman inquiries by acting as a neutral party, evaluating the provided facts, and applying the GTIN Management Standard to make recommendations. This impartiality is crucial in maintaining the integrity of GS1 standards.Furthermore, I will represent GS1 Canada and the Standards team in community working groups at both local and global levels. Additionally, I will be responsible for processing industry requirements from internal and external stakeholders locally and tracking and reporting on progress.The specialized and technical nature of this role requires a deep understanding and interpretation of all GS1 standards. Timely completion of projects, quick and knowledgeable responses to inquiries, and the creation and delivery of educational materials will be essential to success in this position.Regular interaction with various teams within GS1 Canada (data management, product, contact center, industry relations & engagement, and corporate affairs), as well as with GS1 Global and GS1 Member Organizations, will be integral to achieving effective standards management and fostering collaboration across the global GS1 community.

Key Responsibilities:1. Standards Implementation: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement GS1 standards in the organization's processes, products, and systems. Ensure compliance with the latest GS1 guidelines to achieve enhanced operational efficiency and global interoperability.2. Data Management: Oversee the management and synchronization of product data using GS1 identifiers such as GTINs, GLNs, and GS1 barcodes. Address data quality issues and assist in resolving discrepancies.3. Standards Development: Stay abreast of evolving industry requirements and participate in standards development initiatives. Contribute insights and feedback to enhance existing GS1 standards and develop new ones as needed.4. Training and Education: Develop and deliver training programs to internal stakeholders and external partners, educating them on GS1 standards, best practices, and the benefits of standardization.5. Compliance and Auditing: Conduct audits to ensure adherence to GS1 standards and guidelines, addressing any non-compliance issues promptly and effectively.6. Industry Collaboration: Engage with industry organizations, regulatory bodies, and partners to promote the adoption and recognition of GS1 standards, fostering collaboration for greater supply chain efficiency.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES• Supports all inbound and outbound activity as the first point of contact for subscribers, prospects, and other resources as required (i.e. phone, email, and written communication) to ensure subscriber activation is completed, and subscriber issues/inquiries are resolved in a timely manner;• Conducts outbound calls for subscriber growth, cost recovery, and development;• Supports subscriber retention and cost recovery efforts through documentation, collection, and other customer service activities;• Provides support for data integrity initiatives through reporting and validation of subscriber data; • Maintains and updates reports as requested or required for analysis of subscriber activity;• Assists in the development of presentation materials;• Provides administrative support for the Industry Support Services team;• Liaises with other internal departments (i.e. Finance, Implementation Services) as required;• Ensures ongoing understanding of current and emerging technologies and services provided by GS1 Canada;• Collaborates as an Industry Support Services resource on Special Projects (i.e. UAT testing);• Reviews, updates, and maintains Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and best practices;• Ensures timely completion of deliverables through milestone setting;• Develops recommendations on the most efficient approach to routine daily activities;• Performs various other duties as delegated or assigned.
