I help bring impossible projects to life. I have been filming, directing and editing for the past 15 years shooting documentaries, shorts, and movies across the world. To me, the greater the challenge, the greater the opportunity for creativity. As a filmmaker, I have worked in Nepal in the middle of an earthquake, in refugee camps in Lebanon, in Colombia in a migration crisis, in narco territory in Mexico, and in rural Kenya, to name a few. Challenges excite me. As a young filmmaker, I produced, directed and edited an independent film with a budget of $1000 – a film that went on to participate and win in several film festivals. I believe that limits are what inspire art and I see them as an advantage, not a barrier. What am I really good at?1. Adaptability – I am able to make quick decisions and improvise under pressure. Quite honestly, under pressure is my favorite place to be. 2. Resourcefulness – Whatever it is, I’m able to get it done. Be it getting beautiful shots with the minimum equipment possible, trying to find a character for your documentary in a war zone, or explaining to your grandfather how to use Zoom, I’m your guy.3. I’m friendly – I love meeting and talking to people – I know … it sounds basic, but as a filmmaker this means I’m able to get people to talk and feel comfortable on camera.4. I understand the whole filmmaking pipeline – which makes for smooth post production. I was an editor and sound engineer first. I know exactly what to shoot and how to cut it. I’m basically cutting in my mind as I go and am always thinking about the soundtrack on set. What else…. I believe it’s important to share what we learn so that the next generation is better than we are. I’ve taught Masterclasses in festivals and universities about creativity and finding your way as a creative. I’ve had a blog for the past 15 years where I love to share lessons learned from the mistakes I’ve made along the way. I believe that the willingness to fail is one of the greatest paths to success.
