I have managed the Translators without Borders (TwB) Workspace powered by ProZ.com since December 2010, and in May 2012 I became a member of the TwB Board of Directors. My responsibilities include recruiting new volunteers, managing the translation requests and improving the translation platform and its operation. Throughout 2011, TwB's output grew from 1 million to 2.5 million words delivered anually, and a further 4.5 million words during 2012 and 7 million during 2013. Throughout 2011, TwB's output grew from 1 million to 2.5 million words delivered anually, and a further 4.5 million words during 2012 and 7 million during 2013. We also moved from a few Eurocentric pairs to over 120 language pairs.The Wikipedia project, jointly managed with Dr. James Heilman from the Wikimedia Foundation, aims to translating 80 selected and medically reviewed Wikipedia articles on health care into as many languages as possible (the target being 100 languages). Married to a talented professional translator and having an Engineering background and a strong passion for languages, I became a freelance English to Spanish technical translator in parallel with my main jobs until 2005, and I have remained in the neighborhood ever since.
