The robustness of an ink layer on a printed sheet is an important quality aspect. If the quality is not on the required level it will lead to pollution in sheet transport modules and after some time cause failures and for the costumer reason to complain about the reliability of the printer. Therefore the improvement of ink is a continuous activity also because the range of media is still increasing. For an ink developer it’s necessary to have measuring methods to predict this quality in the printer. Because there are no commercial methods available it has to be developed in own management.The assignment is formulated as follows: Develop an in-line transport-robustness measurement method. The measurement / test of the robustness of the ink will take place on different place in the engine (e.g. after printing, after drying and after cooling down). To find the best method to test the robustness of an ink layer, there will be an experimental research where different methods will be used to damage the layer of ink.
