Co-leader of a team responsible for issues management, media relations and legislative strategy. Point person for liaising with Premier’s Office, as well the arms-length government agency, Metrolinx, ensuring open and consistent communication for proactive and reactive messaging for one of the largest and most complex files in the provincial government. Reporting to the Director of Communications for the Minister of Finance, produced and managed production of a wide range of communications products, including press releases, key messages, and explainer materials. Held the pen on important speeches delivered by the Minister of Finance for town halls to world forums, such as the G7 or G20. Helped write and edit the 2017 and 2018 federal budgets, as well as its supporting material.

Leading a team of four and reporting to the Minister’s Chief of Staff, provided long-term strategic communications planning, issues management and speechwriting, while overseeing media relations and event logistics to execute on the objectives of both the Ministry and across government. Spearheaded public and media events to build profile for the Minister and major files within the Ministry, including the recently renovated Ontario Place. Prepared Minister for an Auditor General’s report to the 2015 Pan Am Games.

Reporting to the Director of Strategic Communications and Products, produced materials for the Premier of Ontario, Kathleen Wynne, including keynote speeches, statements and “backpocket” notes for government announcements, roundtables and international trips for audiences such as local chambers of commerce, large conferences to international delegations.

Working in a team led by the Manager of Strategic Research and Policy, provided timely resources to caucus staff and members. Briefed Ministers and Caucus on issues, legislation and messaging, as well as advised and prepared members for media and debates.

As a Communications Officer, I support the development and implementation of a communications strategy, co-branding guidelines and protocol in support of a specific, sizeable grant and its program. In this capacity I create communications products, as well as steward the creation of multimedia pieces, including animations and a web platform to deliver program messages and facilitate internal communication across the organization.
