As a contract cleaner in Waterford University Hospital I learned the intricacies of infection control. I was trained in the operation of a variety of equipment as well as a magnitude of different cleaning techniques. I held my work to a high standard as the wards received regular audits in which I consistently scored highly in.

In this role I instructed large groups in how to sail small dinghy sailing vessels. I acquired the qualifications for this role over a number of years and passed my exam in 2022. The position came with a massive amount of responsibility as I was tasked with not only teaching children how to sail but also ensuring the safety of up to ten individual sailing vessels, often in adverse weather conditions. This role improved my initiative and critical thinking skills as well as my ability to react quickly to sometimes dangerous situations. I also learned how to manage people and improved my interpersonal skills, taking feedback from clients and my superiors in order to improve my capabilities. This required me to be thorough in checking rigging, making regular boat repairs and coming up with innovative solutions to problems which were presented to me.
