I’m currently employed as a Senior Process Technician 3 at Pfizer, Grange Castle, Dublin. I have experience in Buffer/Media preparation, Purification (Bind/Elute and Flow Through Chromatography, Ultrafiltration and Diafiltration, Depth Filtration, Viral Filtration and Viral Inactivation), Cell Culture and Final Fill. I work for the Small Scale Flex (SSF) department of Drug Substance involved in biologicals. Small Scale Flex produces new drugs on a smaller scale by developing manufacturing processes. I have experience with disposable parts and fixed stainless steel vessels.SSF is involved in the production of Somatrogon (Lagova), a modified Human Growth Hormone with increased efficacy for the treatment of paediatric growth hormone deficiency, and Refacto (Moroctocog Alpha), a recombinant antihemophillic factor used to control and prevent bleeding in patients with Hemophillia A. I have experience in shift work (day/night) and following SOP’s, PBR’s and EBR’s. I have an in depth knowledge of SAP, LIMS, MCS and MES and I have been champion of finance, systems and yield on my shift.I work in class C clean room conditions handling raw materials and harmful chemicals. I am familiar with reading pH, conductivity and osmolarity of chemical solutions and cells. I have excellent scientific technique and experience with fume hoods, laminar air flows, biosafety cabinets, autoclaves, UV spectroscopy, WFI sampling and EM plates.I have been involved in the training of new staff as well as holding the position of the ‘Person of Contact’ for my shift. This job has developed my problem solving skills and provided me with invaluable experience in the pharmaceutical sector.

Carrigtwohill Co. Cork

I worked as a Plastic Welder/General operator for CSP Ltd. in Carrigtwohill Co. Cork. Containment Service Providers specialise in the handling and containment of potent compounds, i.e. raw materials, intermediates and final compounds in the pharmaceutical sector. Their speciality is designing and retrofitting existing facilities with flexible isolators and working with equipment suppliers to improve the containment on new equipment.I was one of the few employees who could operate all of the machinery including impulse and radio frequency welders. I manufactured flexible containment and integrated systems for the pharmaceutical sector. I also did van deliveries on occasion. Working for CSP has given me a unique knowledge of clean room flexible containment units as well as important teamwork skills.

In 2016, I completed my final year research project under Prof. J. Paul G. Malthouse who was head of Biochemistry in UCD. I worked in a laboratory to ‘determine the effect of substrate ionisation on the catalytic activity of alpha-chymotrypsin.’ I obtained vital lab experience whilst developing my lab skills and knowledge. I tested the reactivity of different substrates with alpha-chymotrypsin at various pH and temperatures using UV spectrophotometry techniques. During my time, I prepared chemical solutions and developed an excellent understanding of enzyme kinetics. I received the Joy Carey award for best final year project thesis for the class of 2017.

Greater Boston Area

I spent time as a photography salesman in Boston Massachusetts working for Photogenic Inc. My job included taking and selling high quality photographs of tourists for ‘Boston Harbour Cruises’ and Boston’s world famous ‘Duck Tours’. This job required leadership and people skills which I perfected during my time there.I was promoted to a lead role and had increased responsibility including closing the office, writing/sending daily reports and handling large sums of money. During my time here, I gained experience with customer service, an in depth knowledge of cameras and photography, and also crucial salesman experience. I received employee of the month on occasion.

Innishannon Co. Cork

I worked as a tree surgeon for Kelleher Landscaping Ltd. in the west Cork area. My duties included shaving and cutting trees, shredding branches and cutting grass. The job required long hours and hard labour. From this role, I learned key skills in adhering to health and safety practices, personal protective wear, working to a schedule and performing hazardous tasks without supervision.
