I research and guide multi-day group biking, hiking and multi-sport tours. As of 2019 I have worked in 16 countries on 4 continents.- Set-up and maintenance of remote guide accommodations & work-spaces. Mentoring of guides new to the field.- Research and design of tours in new regions, as well as maintenance and continuing improvement of existing tours based on guest feedback. - Management of large groups of diverse personalities of all ages, including families.- Anticipating, troubleshooting, and resolving of complex logistical problems while under tight time constraints. Clear communication (both verbal and written) in English & other languages when dealing with vendors, sub-contractors, etc.

Operations Consultant (Feb 2018 - present): Design & implementation of a new CRM based on Airtable, a cloud collaboration service. Sales and pre-reservation system successfully delivered mid-2018, post-reservation system deployed late-2018. Currently working on feature enhancement and potential leverage of templates for use by other travel companies with similar CRM needs.Operations Manager (Nov 2015 - May 2017): I was responsible for all daily operations, overall customer satisfaction and safety, cost management, tour management, and branding integrity for tours in 12 countries on 4 continents. I also made a significant contribution to marketing and sales efforts. - Trip Planning and Coordination: All pre-departure details, flights and travel logistics, invoices, payments. Lodge and activity reservations. Monitoring and maintenance of passenger documentation.- Operational and Office Systems and Structures: Website - content, troubleshooting, liaison with coders, SEO specialists and designers, usability and quality. Creation and implementation of operations systems. Trip budget creation and management. Bookkeeping for client and vendor transactions. Marketing strategy and logistics, including Google Analytics/Adwords. Reporting of operational, sales, financial and marketing data to President along with strategic recommendations.- Traveler, Operators and Guides relationships: Manage a remote team of guides, lodge owners, transportation providers, activity providers, and inbound operators to provide services that meet company standards for quality and price. Monitoring of and responding to client feedback, implementation of necessary itinerary improvements.

I was the first investor in this urban bike tour and rental business, and focused on the following areas in helping the two full-time managers create and grow the company:- Business plan development, early-stage tour design and guiding.- Website: Design and maintenance (Wordpress administration, layout, content, basic css and php programming). Setup and debug of Google Analytics, including E-commerce data. Web presence & marketing (SEO, Facebook page, Google adwords, TripAdvisor, Yelp, Google places, etc.). Web integration with 3rd party booking engine- Media exposure (e.g. Associated Press feature, Tim Ferriss endorsement)

Team Lead managing a software sustaining project for code running on Cisco’s IOS operating system, on various enterprise communications platforms. This was a fully remote position, and was made possible by use of cutting-edge telecommuting products developed by the company. - Triage of incoming problem reports, coming both from customers and from various groups within Cisco. Report assignment to a pool of up to 20 engineers.- Development and maintenance of an intranet website to streamline the sustaining process; from problem report aggregation, to best practices for all parties, to automatic generation of metrics for weekly presentations to management. Writing of PERL scripts to feed data into website.- Management of problem reports from assignment to resolution, including code review in the case of bug fixes (all code in 'C', using a UNIX environment and the Clearcase version control system)- Prompt and effective communication of problem report status to all interested parties, including customers and Cisco teams such as field support, tech support, tech sales, verification, software release and levels of management up to VPs.

Vovida created the world's first Linux-based packet communications system for carrier and service provider environments. My work included:- Design and coding in a C and C++ environment on Linux, using multimedia protocols such as H.323, MGCP and SIP. This involved analyzing and understanding the operation of complex, distributed systems.- Working with remote partner companies to integrate their products with ours, which consisted of hardware and software installation, configuration and troubleshooting.Vovida was acquired by Cisco Systems in November 2000.

Embedded application software design on a PSTN/VoIP gateway for Nortel's Meridian PBX.- Gained progressive experience with VxWorks, C, TCP/IP, VoIP, H.323 and ISDN PRI.- Resolved code and debugging issues.- Configured and programmed test equipment, analyzed products under test, and supported both a verification program in France, and large customer installation in China.

- Circuit design using discrete components, aiding with PCB layout (CAD), and supporting and troubleshooting in-house PCB manufacture.- Firmware/assembler design for embedded systems using the 8051 micro-controller.- Coding in C for a multimedia platform running the VxWorks RTOS.
