As an independent consultant, I have developed, implemented and evaluated initiatives aimed at combatting gender and power-based violence, prioritizing trauma-informed, effective and efficient systems of care through collaboration among multiple agencies. My consulting services include problem solve with nonprofit leaders to help them develop effective, measurable and sustainable programs, manage organizational change, and successfully fulfill their mission, ensuring effective board governance, as well as writing legislation, policies and procedures, and training manuals and curricula.Key Accomplishments: ► Played key role in aiding executive directors by fostering management team cohesion, providing board development and training, and refining communication skills among staff, team members, and with clients.► Contributed to development of grants, policies, and procedures to streamline operations and ensure compliance with best practices and drafted and implemented complex legislation centralizing survivor priorities with multiple stakeholders.► Crafted and implemented data systems in collaboration with nonprofit organizations to facilitate transparent outcome reporting in social services, leading to enhanced program effectiveness and accountability.

In this role, I pioneered and oversaw the implementation of a novel program model, delivering in-person advocacy services to survivors of domestic violence. In addition to this, I introduced innovative legal advocacy approach rooted in empowerment principles, specifically designed for pro se petitioners in civil protection order cases, to promote self-advocacy and legal empowerment. My job was to ensure transparency and evidence based decision making by establishing and maintaining data driven outcome reporting system.Key Accomplishments:► Played a pivotal role in reducing domestic violence-related homicides by 75% in five years through the DC lethality assessment project.► Successfully managed budgets of up to $2.1 million, doubling the organization's financial capacity within seven years.► Expanded the organization's workforce twofold and established a constructive management structure to create a harmonious and productive working environment.► Established a 24/7 response hotline tailored for Latina immigrant victims, ensuring easy access to essential services.► Provided crucial data and insights on local domestic violence services to support policy development.► Delivered informative presentations on various topics, including violence against women, program services, and legal processes, to professional audiences, government agencies, law enforcement, external boards of directors, and students.

In my role as the Program Director for the SAFE Program, I improved survivors' ability to navigate the legal system by crafting and executing a streamlined advocacy model for pro se litigants seeking relief in DC Superior Court's domestic violence unit.Key Accomplishments:► Enhanced survivors' ability to navigate the legal system by developing and implementing a streamlined advocacy model for pro se litigants in DC Superior Court's domestic violence unit.► Led a team of five advocates, overseeing the delivery of legal advocacy, court accompaniment, and social services to support approximately 5,000 domestic violence victims annually while ensuring access to essential resources and assistance.► Managed grant funding and reporting for the program, ensuring the continued availability of essential resources and compliance with grant requirements.

In this capacity, I contributed to the development of legislation aimed at enhancing the well-being of domestic violence survivors through partnerships with community groups.Key Accomplishment:► Spearheaded the creation of critical training sessions within the Metropolitan Police Department's in-service training, educating 3,500 police officers and detectives on domestic violence and the imperative of mandatory arrest, resulting in an improved response to domestic violence cases.

As the Lead Advocate at the Supporting Our Survivors Center, I supported the rights of domestic violence survivors by engaging with diverse public benefits agencies and offering essential support.Key Accomplishment:► Elevated awareness and understanding of domestic violence by providing comprehensive training to 911/311 operators, police officers, and community groups, enabling more effective responses to domestic violence incidents.

In this capacity, I actively advocated for domestic violence survivors and children, offering unwavering support by accompanying survivors to both civil and criminal court proceedings. In addition to this, I provided immediate, on call, and in person advocacy support to promptly respond to local police requests for assistance.Key Accomplishments:► Established an evening legal clinic run by volunteer law students to expand access to legal aid.► Spearheaded the development and implementation of a groundbreaking systems advocacy program, replicated across the state to support survivors facing legal challenges for self-defense.
