Basler, Micom, etc.WHO AM I?I spent nearly a decade in various energy-related industries (refineries, chemical plants, and renewables), mastering electrical, instrumentation, SCADA, and control concepts and ultimately specializing in power systems. I hold three bachelor’s degrees in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, and Mathematics from Lamar University. In addition, I am a registered professional engineer in Texas, Colorado, Kansas, Indiana, South Dakota, New Mexico, Minnesota, Idaho, Pennsylvania, Wyoming, Iowa, and California. I am constantly looking to acquire additional expertise in power systems, taking two dozen seminars/training in power systems analysis, arc flash 2018 methodologies, ETAP, Schweitzer engineering laboratory (SEL), and Doble seminar on transformers. I have also broadened my skills by attending a summer MBA program at Harvard Business School.

Director Of Electrical EngineeringEeengineering, Llc Feb 2021 - PresentHouston, Texas, Us- I perform the following electrical studies: Power Flow, Short Circuit, Protection, Coordination, Arc Flash, Interconnection.- I perform the following NERC Studies: All PRCs and MOD.- I perform collector analysis for wind/solar farms to detect inefficient collectors and provide recommendations.- I review and provide comments on power studies prepared by others- I implement electrical safety programs following OSHA and NFPA 70E- I provide operation and reliability improvements for BOP in wind/solar farms- I design transmission line and provide anti galloping design scheme- I perform asset management for all electrical equipment- I audit electrical sites and provide recommendations- I provide custom training to companies and engineers concerning all their power engineering schemes, protection, and production. -
Electrical EngineerBp Jul 2018 - Feb 2021London, England, Gb- I provided expertise and performed all studies for 9 wind farms in all the NERC PRCs:o PRC 001: System Protection Coordinationo PRC 004: Protection System Misoperationo PRC 005-6: Protection System Maintenanceo PRC 024-2: Generator Frequency and Voltage Protective Relay Settingso PRC 025-2: Generator Frequency and Voltage Protective Relay Settings- I designed a relay scheme that uses a directional scheme that allows all the wind turbines to run without curtail. Moreover, the same scheme allowed routine maintenance activities without using maintenance mode/switch.- I noticed that all the previous arc flash labels were significantly inaccurate, and I redesigned 15,000 arc flash labels. Arc flash studies were done using IEEE 2018 and the latest NFPA 70E, and I printed and shipped all the labels.- I created 9 ETAP power simulation models for several wind farms. The largest wind farm was 600 MW. I modified and customized the modeling for a doubly-fed induction generator in ETAP as a typical built-in model does not fully represent field configuration. - I performed load flow, arc flash with IEEE 2018, short circuit, protection and coordination, and harmonic studies for 9 wind farms. I stamped and approved all the studies as I am a PE. Studies allowed us to save significant money (about $500k) to the organization as we no longer utilized third parties- I gathered 10,000 relay events during the decade, and I analyzed 1,000 electrical faults. I realized that software simulations did not match real events data. I reverse engineered and discovered significant flaws in our power systems which I documented and corrected by redoing all electrical studies and models. I also documented all the enclosure configurations for all the wind turbine types for future use. -
