Current Projects:Develop strategy for thin desktops for elementary school classrooms (12000 desktops) using Windows Remote Desktop and Stoneware Portal.Previous experience in this position:Designed and installed a high availability Exchange 2010 messaging infrastructure to replace an aging Exchange 2003 cluster. Administer clustered Barracuda spam firewalls for message filtering. Designed and developed the Windows 7 system image for the i21 Classroom project, which has been covered in several case studies here (bit.ly/qn4EMr), and here (bit.ly/ppRup6). Write and maintain group policies for staff and students. Implemented and support Lync 2010 IM and “LiveMeeting” environment for ~1000 users. I also package and test software for deployment via SCCM advertisements. Provide tier three support for all email, active directory, group policy issues. Oversee the work of three other systems analysts. Wrote and maintain numerous tools used by the help desk and other IT personnel including Exchange related utilities for alias/address and mailbox size management written in VB.Net, as well as a tool written in C# to enforce computer naming conventions when joining computers Active Directory post-imaging.Installed and maintain a video sharing site using Apache, PHPMotion, MySQL, SuSE Linux and other free and open source tools. I later modified PHP code of the video website to support video encoding as MPEG-4 and enable HTML5 video playback for compatibility with iOS and Andoid devices. Deployed a multi-server, load-balanced Moodle learning management portal using Microsoft SQL server and IIS technologies.

Wrote and maintained a help desk web interface for user account management written in classic ASP. Lead team of engineers in migrating 10,000 mailboxes from CommunigatePro to Exchange Server 2003. Wrote numerous VBScript and Perl scripts to perform migrations tasks. Worked with MCS engineer to design a district-wide Active Directory distributed among 180 sites. Designed initial Group Policies for staff and students. Wrote batch files and other scripts required for conversion of desktop environment from Novell Netware to Windows+Active Directory. Designed, configured and maintained WSUS system for 30,000 clients. Installed and maintained a mailing list server using the Majordomo mailing list script and the Postfix mail server. Wrote custom management pack for monitoring IBM hardware events in Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) 2005.

Setup a Windows 2000 Active Directory in support of 2900 users and over 900 desktops at one high school. Setup and maintained 4 Windows file servers for student and staff use. Wrote white paper on how to integrate MacOS X authentication with Active Directory including custom schema extension. Setup IIS5 web server to host school website. Assisted four other school sites in setting up Active Directory and/or Exchange servers.
