He earned a Masters degree in Accountancy from Boston College and is licensed as a Certified Public Accountant (MA) and passed the Certified Fraud Examiner exam.Egan worked for four years for Deloitte in their Risk & Financial Advisory group, where he led international audit teams in year-over-year execution of internal control assessments, focusing heavily on Sarbanes-Oxley internal controls over financial reporting and related ITGC elements. Egan then transitioned to a Fortune 250 bank's corporate audit department, where he led operational audit focus areas through the full life-cycle of the project, including assessment of remediation efforts. Egan is now the manager of SOX Compliance at CarGurus. He is responsible for the overall Sarbanes-Oxley control performance and assessments at CarGurus, supporting the integration of acquired companies’ internal controls frameworks, ensuring key report identification and validation, and performing myriad risk-related special projects.
