CurrentAs the Associate Vice President for Information Security, I provide the dynamic leadership requiredto support the UW System’s mission through an effective information security program. Providing anational perspective on information security planning, risk management and effective leadership in anevolving higher education and information technology environment.I lead the development and updating of the UW System information security program. This willguide the work of the UW System Administration and its institutions with respect to information security.This includes presenting information security plans and reports to the UW System President and Board ofRegents as necessary.I oversee the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to information security. The AVP manages policy activities, including working with the Associate Vice President for Information Technology, the Council of Chief Information Officers, system wide governance groups, and external organizations to inform policy and program. I work effectively across the UW System and its institutions in protecting the systems and the data contained in those systems, maintaining the information security infrastructure, and acquiring information security systems and coordinating with vendors.Using federal National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) standards as a guide, the UW System information security program encompasses a comprehensive set of information security policies and procedures as necessary to guide UW institutions.
