• Obtain, review, and document patient’s medical history through a pre-operative interview. - Lead the software implementation of a novel biomedical device consisting of a half-dome with 13 RGBW LEDs, used for clinical ambulatory testing of full-field visual acuity.- Succesfully integrated a hand-held button within the Arduino circuitry: the patient, during testing, pushes it as soon as he/she sees an LED light up; once the patient pushes the button, the test continues by randomly illuminating another LED, until all of the LEDs have been illuminated and the full visual field has been tested at different LED stimulus intensities, to map visual thresholds in relation to specific parts of the visual field.

Neural Engineering Vision Lab (Nevl)

Perform the mechanical assembly of a three-dimensional stimulus source for Peripheral Pattern Electroretinography (ERG), a novel device able to test both the central and peripheral retina, combining the features of current stimulators into a single device, and allowing for the early detection of retinal diseases, consequently minimizing vision loss.Carry on the luminance uniformity characterization of the device in terms of number and type of diffusive layers. Design the electronic circuit which drives the LEDs, the stimulus source, as well as the software, done in Arduino, to allow for LED control and protocol implementation.

Managed and provided support as facilitator to two students’ groups in the formulation of a solution to three bioengineering problems proposed throughout the course.Held office hours to provide feedback to the students during the development of the solutions to the bioengineering problems proposed in class.Graded the oral presentations of the two groups and performed the data entry, in Excel, for the formulation of the final grades of the whole class.
