As Head of the Sound and Music Department, an average day consisted of composing music, recording, mixing tracks, researching the newest in music technology and making crazy sounds. I provided all sound and music for all game titles as well as for any other forms of visual media that the company released.

I ensured that sets, props and technical equipment are safe, ready to use and in the right position prior to filming. Furthermore, I was responsible for all communications with the audience and any guests, for example by ensuring they are seated in good time. During the show I was the link between the director (up in the gallery) and the floor below and responsible for passing on cues to presenters and guests to ensure timings are met and the broadcast goes smoothly.

I was in charge of converting programmes on Beta tape, DVD and Mini Dv into digital files that I distributed along the network of the TV station. Furthermore, I was responsible for backing up all the programmes that were transmitted and I was also in charge of the company’s extensive video library, which comprised thousands of DVD’s and tapes. I had to organise the company’s video stock alphabetically and back up all digital output on the network.

The company specialises in studio equipment and is the only company of its kind on the island. During my time at Technosound I received six months on-the-job training across a range of recording software and hardware interfaces and was on call for clients to provide them with technical support. Along with two of my colleagues I was also in charge of sales within the store, prepping and shipping online orders.
