Vetstoria provides online booking facility to over 5000 veterinary hospitals worldwide. Partnering with more than 12 Practice Management System (PIMS) providers, Vetstoria has a world-wide presence from Asia Pacific to EU and US.I make the technical and architectural decisions with our CTO and other Software Architects. I also lead 3 teams (10+ engineers) working on the development of the service platform. I make the hiring decisions based on the technical aptitude of candidates. I led the team of 15+ engineers working on the development and the quality assurance aspects of the Vetstoria scheduling platform and its integrated tools. I also worked with a Tech-Lead and our CTO to design a high performant middleware and its public API.Key Contributions:- Led the restructuring of the Scheduling Platform into independently deployable services reducing the regression testing time.- Orchestrated distributed services on local machines using Kubernetes to reduce infrastructure cost. - Led the development of a Domain Specific Language that reduced the cost of test automation.- Led the development of the Tele-Medicine solution and delivered in just 3 weeks to enable vet clinics across the globe to continue their business at the onset of COVID-19 lock-downs.

I led the team of 5+ full-stack software engineers and was responsible for the entire development process. When I was not pairing with another developer or coding myself, I made improvements to the development workflows and tooling. I also worked with Client Services engineers to handle technical tickets.Key Contributions:- Made hiring decisions based on the technical aptitude of candidates to build the development team.- Developed 2 modules for the scheduling platform for follow-up questionnaires and pet-owner profile management.- Led the development of 3 supporting applications for MIS integration handling, marketing campaign management and workflow optimization.- Containerized and scripted the development environment to bring down the set-up time from 3 hours to 15 minutes.

I was the first full-time developer to get on-board for the development of the new SaaS product for online appointment scheduling. I worked hand-in-hand with our CTO (and co-founder) to get the MVP out within a few months. The success of my initial work lead the company to open-up its first off-shore office in Sri Lanka in 2015 as its engineering department.

Software Development Unit (SDU) of University of Colombo School of Computing (UCSC) was first of its kind - a government backed institute to address the need of customized software tools for government offices and corporations of Sri Lanka.My work covered the full spectrum of software projects from Proposal Writing, Business Analysis, Solution Designing, Programming, Testing and Project Coordination. I have worked with many government offices and corporations including Sri Lanka Standards Institute (SLSI), National Science Foundation (NSF), Municipal Council of Nuwara Eliya, Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka (CAASL), Election Commission of Sri Lanka and Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka.Furthermore, I have trained many young software engineers who worked with me on different projects I led.Key Contributions:- Development of Aviation Licensing System for Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka(https://portal.caa.lk/lims/).- Development of IMEI number registration and SMS-based verification system for Telecommunication Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka(text "IMEI " to 1909).

During the era when Unicode was not widely adopted in Sri Lanka and Sinhala and Tamil did not have many computerized resources or tools available for public use, the Language Technology Research Laboratory (LTRL) was one of the pioneering institutes which started to address the need.Most of my work on research development of localisation and Natural Language Processing tools has been released to the public for free.Many of these tools are still available at https://subasa.lk/Key Contributions:- Development of online text input tool for Sinhala and Tamil - Real Time Unicode Converter (https://ucsc.cmb.ac.lk//ltrl/services/feconverter/) to encourage adaptation of Unicode for the local community.- Development of the first Sinhala spell-checker (https://speller.subasa.lk/).- Conducting lectures for undergraduates on Natural Language Processing.

Distant Education Modernization Project (DEMP) is a program to improve the skills and attitudes of the next generation of entrants to the work-force of Sri Lanka. Initiated by the government of Sri Lanka and conducted by partner organizations, the project provides essential training in English language proficiency and Business Communication, Management, Information Technology and Personal Development.Key Responsibilities:- Coordination of the program and related activities.- Conduct lectures for the program participants.
