Postdoctoral Fellow
Key responsibilities:• Conducting research on interdigitated back contact silicon solar cells. One of the two main work focuses was on eliminating high temperature process steps in the cell fabrication procedures. This has been achieved by adopting ion implantation and laser doping instead of the traditional thermal doping method. The other focus was on optimising cell characteristics on both electrical and optical performances along with fabrication procedure tuning to achieve very high cell efficiency.Key achievements:• The research team achieved 24.7% efficiency for thermally doped IBC cell (centre record), 23.9% for fully ion implanted IBC cell (near world record at the time best to our knowledge), 23.5% efficiency for laser contact opening cell and 22.8% for fully laser doped IBC cell. • Design and fabricate monocrystalline silicon based solar cells, specifically interdigitated back contact (IBC) solar cell and passivated emitter with rear locally diffused (PERL) solar cell.• Cross-team collaboration with ANU Perovskite team has achieved a theoretical Perovskite-Silicon Tandem structure solar cell efficiency of 26.4%.• Successfully optimised Interdigitated Back-Contact (IBC) solar cell performance and fabrication procedures on the aspects of both performance and fabrication cost.
