Westinghouse Columbia Fuel Fabrication Facility

Accomplishments: • Led team to complete a new state-of-the-art 1,200 HP, duel fuel boiler house on time to meet an exceedingly difficult DHEC deadline to shut down two old boilers. Boiler shutdowns are manufacturing shutdowns. Meeting the challenge to place the new steam supply system in service to the plant on-time avoided losses of $600k per day. Team included 20+ in house personnel and 11 subcontractors.• Led team to complete transition from one Maintenance, Repair and Operations (MRO) supply contractor to another in an extremely aggressive 90 days with no impact to manufacturing operations. An MRO is the life blood of a manufacturing plant and this transition enabled the new team to offer $1M in annual savings on $5M in annual spend.• Also led teams to complete install of two new 300kW plant air compressors, replacement of six 350 HP plant chillers, replacement of a 20 ton humidity control system and management of the uranium pellet sintering furnace overhaul program for 14 furnaces. At any given time, leader of at least four active project teams.

VC Summer New Nuclear Construction Project. Senior Project Manager assigned to the PMO and the Operations Control Center (OCC).Accomplishments:• Assumed control of a group of four projects: the site water treatment plant, construction of the reactor raw water intake structure, construction of the reactor waste water discharge structure and horizontal jack and bore drilling of the site waste water pipe under two railroad lines. The first three were mired in delays and unresolved issues and I determined the root cause to be an irrecoverably toxic relationship with the primary subcontractor. Made the case to terminate and re-bid and was successful.• Closed several high-profile project technical issues assigned to me by the PMO or the OCC. Example: completion of a center of gravity calculation for a fully outfitted 2.2 million-pound second ring of the reactor containment vessel on schedule to support setting the ring.• Also represented the entire construction project vetting proposed changes to the AP-1000 reactor design coming from the design team in Pennsylvania.
