In the pursuit of harnessing my entrepreneurial spirit, I founded Poly-Med, LLC with the aim to create a “one-stop shop” for any doctor, clinic, or physician group to successfully deploy a physician clinic diagnostic laboratory specializing in molecular PCR and/or immunoassay testing within their own practice. My driving philosophy is to create the next generation model of how diagnostic laboratories are designed and regulated to ensure that providers receive high quality results in a timely manner so that they can make accurate and informed diagnoses and treatment plans. Doctors work tirelessly everyday to do what’s best for their patients, so why shouldn’t diagnostic laboratory services be held to the same standard!Feel free to contact me with any questions, and, if you are interested in creating and owning a diagnostic laboratory in your clinic, look no further, Poly-Med will handle and oversee every aspect of laboratory design, construction, instrumentation, validation, CLIA, staffing, training, and SOPs to get your laboratory off the ground, and operational management for peace of mind so your clinic can concentrate on what’s most important…the patients! From an early age, I knew that helping others was my calling. Growing up, I found interest in my parents collection of anatomy and medical journals which influenced my decision to pursue a career in medicine. During my time at university, I gained experience in various biochemical laboratory techniques with the intent to use my education and experience to better people's lives. During university, I joined “Save Our Straws” where I helped develop a biodegradable plant-based replacement for plastic for use in cutlery, straws, and other disposable food accessories. After graduating, I joined Double Zero Cocktails where I helped develop a natural calorie free sweetener that mimics sugar and assorted net-zero carb alcoholic beverages.I began my career in the medical field as a PCR specialist in the molecular management division of US Doctors. My responsibilities included exploring future applications for polymerase chain reaction (PCR) based assays in the healthcare field, PCR lab design, deployment of PCR instrumentation, validation, QA, and QC of PCR systems to ensure accurate patient results, and the training of healthcare workers on the specific procedures involved in tandem multiplex qPCR. As US Doctors expanded into other medical services, my role in the company evolved to oversee all aspects of Molecular Laboratory Operations and personnel management as Director of Operations.

Poly-Med specializes in the physician office diagnostic laboratory sector. From beginning to end, we will oversee laboratory design, construction, instrumentation, validation, regulatory, staffing, training, etc.. We also offer operations and management services to ensure the laboratory maintains the high level of QC/QA our provider customers depend on including maintaining ledgers, inventory, tech support, required competency and proficiency testing, and random audits/inspections of the laboratory and its staff. Our services provide doctors, clinics, and physician groups a turn-key solution to make in-house diagnostic testing a reality, greatly improving patient care. By implementing a clinic-attached diagnostic laboratory, several benefits become readily apparent:First, the time between patient specimen collection and test results is minimized allowing providers to determine and prescribe an appropriate therapy regimen the same day of the patient visit. This ability is becoming more important as antibiotic stewardship grows increasingly relevant in modern healthcare as providers no longer need to prescribe non-specific broad spectrum antibiotics while they wait days for test results. Instead, the provider can prescribe a high efficacy targeted antibiotic the same day of the patient visit. The targeted antibiotic is chosen based on molecular tests that identify the pathogen(s) and their respective antibiotic resistance profile.Second, since the patient specimen is collected, stored, prepped, and tested the same day using our own strict standard operating procedures (SOPs) and aseptic techniques, the test results accurately depict the true infection instead of the false positives and negatives associated with specimen shipments to reference labs where time and temperature can skew the specimen’s pathogen makeup by promoting the growth of certain bacteria (E. Coli, etc.) and potentially pushing fastidious organisms (M. Hominis, etc.) into false negativity.
