32 years in the roofing and cladding industry, I started as a sheeters mate learning all aspects of industrial roofing. I have used many different roofing build up,s from double skin, composite, Kal-Zip , speed deck etc.Once I had gained enough knowledge I set up on my own as a sub contractor and had a very fruitful time working on some very prestigious projects ranging from T5 barrel roofs to the New Arsenal stadium. On the cladding side many again using different types of materials, double skin, composite etc.I have also installed stone cladding met-Sec on 3 blocks at the 2012 Olympic village.I later when on to become a contract manager, looking after multiple jobs at once with my duties ranging from pre start meeting, liaison with multiple trades involved with the project to ensure a smooth transition throughout the projects. I have also been a regional manager for a reactive roofing maintenance company looking after 10 teams of 2 men carrying out small repairs to larger work depending on what the clients required.I have done so much in the roofing world and this is just a snippet of things. There is nothing better than been on a roof in the summer first thing in the morning watching the sun rise or in the winter feeling the wind and rain on me.As you can tell I absolutely love everything about roofing ( strange I know) but I wouldn’t change a thing.I’m 57 now still very fit and back on the tools with my youngest son teaching him all I know and what I’m still learning. Hopefully in years to come he will love it as much I still do.
