Currently a Year 3 student at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), I discovered my interest in Chemistry when I studied modules like Biochemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, and Instrumental and Analytical Chemistry, equipping myself with extensive knowledge in Ngee Ann Polytechnic (NP) and decided to further my studies in Chemistry and Biological Chemistry in NTU.I am someone who enjoys working in a team. I have joined several sports CCAs like Football, Cross-Country, and Touch Rugby since my earlier schooling days, and I have improved my ability to communicate with different types of people ever since then. These social skills I have acquired have made me more interested in working in a team, hence I chose to intern with Symrise as part of their Research & Development Team (R&D) back when I was a Year 3 student in NP. I had the chance to collaborate with people across different departments to work in the lab, conducting several experiments. On top of that, I also managed to work closely together with my R&D team to achieve our purpose and goals!Being a team player on many occasions has also helped me acquire some leadership skills. After being elected as an EXCO member for some of my CCA clubs, I was given the opportunity to attend several leadership courses and camps which helped me to be an effective leader. These qualities I have acquired have helped me serve my National Service (NS) as an Inspector (NS) in the Singapore Police Force (SPF) where I was given more exposure to put myself to the test. Personally, I am a person who loves healthy competition and challenges as it always motivates me to move forward. Once I have set my mind on something, I will try my best to accomplish it. I am also someone who is adaptable so being in a new environment is not a problem for me.Although I have completed 3 years in NP and now advancing into getting a Bachelor’s, I am always learning and improving. I am proud to say that I did well in NP and graduated with a CGPA of 3.59. This CGPA might not be the best but I am sure I have a good balance of soft and hard skills and will be an asset to any organization.
