I have a dream, of a world, where everyone of us have the means and given chances to live our lives with dignity. My understanding of dignity is, everyone of us can decide ourselves how, where and in which circumstances we should live our lives, privately and professionally.The choices we make should build on our own desires and not how we are labeled. You and I are so much more than our hair color, skin color, age, gender, religious beliefs, weight, gender identity. Our personalities are so much more than the vessile (physical body) we are.I have a dream, of a world, where we all have access to glasses with magical powers and when we put on those glasses we possess the superpower of seing beyond the physical being and we have the ability to see each others DRIVE, MOTIVATION and FULL POTENTIAL. In this talk, Ergin explains how having a son with autism has enabled him to become a calmer, more focused, better planned, and paradoxically more spontaneous person, with those benefits expanding far beyond his personal life. Through countless real-life examples and some serious TEDster research, Ergin shows that rather than a burden, diversity in all its senses offers a competitive edge for every organization. All that is required is that we widen our view of where our society’s superpowers reside.When we think of a superpower, we often turn to flying, x-ray vision, or extreme strength. But what if the unique way someone perceives the world is their superpower? Social entrepreneur and diversity advocate, Ergin Özdemir has a great deal to say about such super powers. As a “love immigrant” in Sweden and the father of a child with autism, Ergin, has experienced the transformative power of diversity first hand, first as an individual and then as a successful businessman. Ergin has assisted some of Sweden’s largest organizations with their diversity initiatives, initiated around 100 internships, set up a tertiary education scholarship program in Turkey, and created the annual Diversity Achievement award of 100,000kr.

Many individuals and organizations do fantastic things for a more inclusive and tolerant society. With this annual prize I wanted to shed a light on thee efforts. We wanted to put that organization and/or individual under the spot light, even for only a day, doing these fantastic efforts which not yet broadly recognized.
