Served as a senior leader in a command of 500 sailors and 11 MH-60S helicopters that provided sea combat detachments in support of Seventh Fleet and the Navy Air Ambulance Detachment in Kuwait. As Detachment Officer-in-Charge was responsible for the leadership and professional development of 30 sailors and six officers operating two helicopters providing 24-hour search and rescue capability and logistics support onboard the USS Essex. As squadron administrative officer, led five officers and 50 enlisted personnel performing all administrative functions for the 500 personnel in the command. As squadron maintenance officer led 235 enlisted sailors and 13 officers performing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on 11 MH-60S aircraft.

Led a team of ten officers and 75 enlisted sailors during a critical period of training and preparation for deployment. Stood watch as ship's Tactical Action Officer responsible for coordinating defense of the aircraft carrier with weapons release authority for the ship's self-defense weapons.
