I am a first year software engineering student at the University of Ottawa. I previously attended l'École Secondaire Catholique Franco-Cité, where I obtained my high school diploma with an order of Merit from Ontario for obtaining over an average of 85%. At the moment, I am focusing on my academic studies to be able to find an internship/CO-OP for the summer of 2024. I have been working at the Hylands Golf Club for the past three summers where I acquired multiple skills. While these acquired skills were not directly procured in the software engineering field, many of these skills are transferable. As an employee at the golf course, I operated the back-shop with little supervision. I also had to manage multiple tasks with very little staff in a fast-paced environment. I demonstrated quick thinking in stressful situations when the golf course was facing multiple issues with power carts dying in record heat temperatures. Furthermore, I demonstrated commitment to customer service by always arriving to the workplace prior to my shift starting so members could tee off as soon as possible. As well as I exceeded customer expectations by being aware of their specific needs and preferences. Since I have been working at the golf course for quite some time, I was able to learn the majority of the patron's bag tag numbers and I maintained awareness of who was approaching and having their golf bag ready upon their arrival. I worked extremely well with my peers and management alike. I led training for new back-shop staff on multiple occasions and I developed relationships with patrons which involved active listening and empathy. Finally, I also managed conflicts between co-workers.Throughout my CO-OP journey, I am hoping to try various different jobs because the primary goal of a CO-OP is to gain work experience in your specified field. I am hoping to work in the private sector as well as the public sector to see what I like the most.
