Sustainable Agriculutre Systems Community Agent
Identified farmers and land impacted by annual flooding. Trained 100 farmers on the benefits of flood-resistant cacao as a long-term cash crop. Assisted 55 farmers in installing organic cacao farms covering over 44,000 square meters. Helped establish the creation of a farmer’s cooperation.Installed 15 elementary school gardens in collaboration with the local Student Parent Association. Co-Instructed 30 teachers to provide leadership training and improved gardening practices. Promoted the importance of food diversity and nutrition to cafeteria workers, to increase the nutritional value of meals provided by schools to over 2,500 students. Designed and facilitated trainings on money management skills, marketing, and basic accounting for 10 women without general diplomas. Co-Trained hundreds of students aged 16-20, in marketing skills, financial planning, and the characteristics of a successful entrepreneur. Networked with village chiefs and community leaders to teach youth leaders on the importance of tree planting. Distributed and installed 700 trees in 4 neighborhoods to provide shade and celebrate the unique history of the local community. Provided a weekly club for students aged 10-16 to practice and improve their English skills, as well as learn American culture through various games, songs, and dances. 4 hours per week for 80 students, 176 hours total.
