I was responsible for the strategic direction and delivery of ICT and all aspects of Information Management within Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS). Major items delivered while in this role include: -• Contributed to the corporate ‘Making Kent Safer’ strategy with the ‘Fighting Fire with Fact’ IS strategy, aimed at using information to decrease demand. Established and led the (now mainstreamed) corporate business planning and analysis function. Incidents, deaths and injuries have now reduced by more than 50%.• Founding and influential member of the best practice, award-winning KentConnects and KPSN ICT partnerships.• Established and managed an integrated ITIL based IT function delivering 98% Helpdesk satisfaction.• Delivered information and security governance, gaining certified compliance against the UK government’s information assurance standard in 2015.• As Communications and Control Best Value review lead, I proposed a multi-agency emergency services Control as the best way forward and most likely to succeed. Initially locating the Fire Standby Control in Kent Police’s Control room, this became the Main Control in 2012 after the government’s FiReControl regionalisation was abandoned. Technical interfacing to Kent Police’s central Command and Control system completed in 2015, when this shared service went live, winning an iESE efficiency award.Additional key projects in the final year included: -• Replacement of all desktop, laptop, tablet and smartphone devices with MDM (SCCM/Intune) managed Windows 8.1/10 devices, with a refreshed suite of software.• Upgrade of the SharePoint farm to provide the corporate DMS and record store with automated implementation of the information retention & disposal policies.• Implementation of cloud based (IaaS) backup and virtual server restore service for service resilience.• Network upgrade to superfast broadband speeds to all locations, plus PSNRoam service for seamless Wi-Fi roaming across public sector sites.

I began my career at the world renowned BT Research Laboratories, where I started as a systems and software developer and then moved into the role of project and programme manager. These positions gave me the foundation of technical understanding and the experience of managing teams and working in partnership with others to deliver projects to time, cost and quality. This also set the foundations for change management, with contributions to the culture change from a large civil service monopoly to a privatized company in competition with others.In the latter part of my time with BT I worked with the technical Department heads and Directors as a quality manager. In this role, I gained significant experience as a change manager, to change the culture to ensure customer focus and professional project delivery, while also cutting costs by undergoing a 15% annual staff reduction each year for 5 years.
