Eric Ball is a technology finance professional, investor, and board member. He is Co-Founder and General Partner for Impact Venture Capital, which makes early stage investments in technology companies. Dr. Ball serves as audit chair for voice AI unicorn SoundHound (Nasdaq: SOUN), which went public in 2022 and reached a market cap of $5 billion in 2024. He also chaired the Audit Committee at Glu Mobile (a publicly-traded leader in 3D freemium mobile gaming) until its 2021 acquisition by Electronic Arts for $2.4 bn. Eric is Co-Founder and Board member at capital market startup CapConnect+, created to simplify and digitize and bond issuance and investment process. He serves as an advisor to several other companies, and a board member to three nonprofits.Eric served in 2015-16 as Chief Financial Officer at C3 AI, which is revolutionizing the use of big data to make our power network and the Internet of Things more efficient.From 2005 to 2015, Eric served as Senior VP & Treasurer at Oracle, one of the world's premier technology companies. While there he was named one of the 100 most influential people in finance by the editors of Treasury & Risk Magazine. Prior to joining Oracle, Eric served in various finance roles at Flex, Cisco Systems, Avery Dennison, and AT&T. Eric holds a PhD in management from the Drucker-Ito School, as well as masters degrees from the University of Rochester and a BA from University of Michigan. He is the co-author of the book 'Unlocking the Ivory Tower' (released in US and Japan) and has taught at three universities. He released the novel 'Silicon Galaxy' in 2022. He has a pilot's license, has coached little league baseball and judged high school debate tournaments, and lives in Woodside (with his wife Sheryl, two teenagers, a golden retriever, and a Balinese cat).Eric does not respond to connection requests from vendors or from entrepreneurs seeking funding, that he has not yet met.
