As a Mechanical Engineer in Training for HDK Consulting, my duties include: - Assist lead mechanical engineer with aspects of projects including HVAC, Plumbing and Fire protection design for commercial buildings.- Assist with preparation of construction documents.- Write specifications, prepare schedules and assists with technical reports and control schedules.- Perform onsite reviews- Attend meeting with clients, other consultants, and contractors- Prepare design calculations.- Assist with condition assessments on existing building systems, and prepare written reports

As a Technical Assistant, a big part of my job was computer programing for building management. Using the building automation control system, Metasys, I designed and programed user views for various city building. Many of the programs I created will be implemented to other city buildings; for this reason, I wrote detailed reports of these programs, and their components, so that they can be replicated by others. I was able to assist co-workers in troubleshooting compatibility issues involving old software. During my final co-op term, I took part in the city’s new ‘Green Building’ initiative, which involved collecting data and updating the city’s database of existing water, gas, and hydro meters of various city owned buildings.

• Cleared land and landscaped;• Poured cement foundations per specifications;• Framed, sealed, and worked on the finishing of a 3000 ft2 summer cabin, and detached buildings, incorporating the use of physical skills and mental skills, while utilizing proper safety precautions with power tools and equipment;• Installed plumbing and in-floor heating throughout the cabin, and assisted with installation of electrical with a journeyman electrician on household wiring.• Used teamwork to get large jobs done more efficiently on the work site, as well as familiarized myself with working solo if given an individual objective.
