As a Juvenile Justice Officer II, I ensure facility security by routinely inspecting buildings, living quarters and packages for contraband. Monitor inmates who have a special risk or security status and enforce facility rules and regulations. Document and report disruptive or disturbing behavior and security breaches. We are also trained and prepared to handle emergencies such as fights, fires, escapes, and other situations must be dealt with calmly and according to procedure and guidelines. Transport juvenile offenders to various correction or mental health facilities, juvenile halls, classes and recreational activities. Also provide vocational counseling for offenders and counseling referrals for juveniles' family members or victims. I present material and activities to improve skills in assigned areas, which may include reading, writing, math, computers and/or vocational education. These areas are outlined in their individual educational assessment. I work individually or in small groups. I record data and other measures of students' progress and behavior. I work directly with students’ teachers as well the special education teacher to ensure the success in there outlined IEP.
