Due to the diversity of technologies used at Cirrus Insight, I was able to get tons of valuable experience working with some great tools and languages. If I wasn't working on Ruby on Rails, I was working with Node.js, Angular or PHP. We also relied heavily on MongoDB and Redis for data storage. On the DevOps side of the fence, we utilized containers for everything, so I was immersed in Docker with Compose and Kubernetes for orchestration with AWS.

The Tech Lead role at THREAD was an interesting and different challenge than anything I had done previously. Although it was less hands on than some of my other roles, I was able to provide the technological knowledge and leadership that was needed to help the THREAD team be successful. Along with leading the in-house development team, I helped lead and coordinate the work of several remote development teams producing various projects from iOS to Node.js to web development using the LAMP stack. I was instrumental in helping design back-end architecture for iOS applications using Apple's Research and Care Kit frameworks.

The Director of Engineering role at Teefury consisted of a mix of leading the engineering department, collaborating with other departments in the company, acting as a project manager and scrum master and performing DevOps tasks.I succeeded at Teefury by acting as a communication bridge between engineering and other departments in the company in order improve operational efficiency. I helped the engineering team accomplish goals within timelines in conjunction with art and marketing efforts. I helped improve agile practices by fulfilling project management and scrum master roles needed by the engineering team. I brought cohesion and unity to the Teefury engineering team by providing organization and leadership by encouraging practices required to improve code quality. I worked on contributing, improving and extending the enterprise Magento system used for Teefury’s e-commerce platform. I migrated Teefury's cloud infrastructure from Rackspace to AWS and cut their hosting costs in half while providing a much more scalable virtual hosting solution.

My time at ThreadMeUp was extremely rewarding. The team was really great to be a part of. I stepped into a role performing DevOps including migrating infrastructure from Rackspace to AWS and implementing deployment improvements. I spent a great deal of time with Javascript enhancing my Node.js skills.One of the things I really enjoyed about the time I spent with ThreadMeUp was that I was able to play the role of scrum master. This allowed me to help introduce some good processes for the team including daily code reviews and improving build processes to make the entire SLDC more seamless. I got to contribute to the team and help other developers grow and succeed.

During my time at Solid, I worked on building out the e-commerce based website of one of Solid's largest clients, TeeFury. Using a combination of object oriented PHP tools, my team and I have helped them grow and expand their business.My recent work has consisted of building REST apis, using Node.js with Express for some and PHP for others using FlightPHP and Guzzle. These apis act as a proxy to one of Solid's open source projects, Grasshopper https://github.com/Solid-Interactive/grasshopper-api-js. This project has helped me gain experience using Node.js, tools for testing like Mocha, and enhance my skills with MongoDb.As a development company, there is a strong effort to continually improve operational efficiency. We utilize an agile process which allows development teams to work closely with project managers and provide continuous feedback which stimulates rapid learning. I've been fortunate to work with a great team of developers and gotten a chance to share my experience as well as learn from them.I play a role in administering Solid's server infrastructure which utilizes various cloud platforms including Rackspace, Amazon (ec2, s3, cloudfront), Digital Ocean, Cloudflare, etc. Automation has become an integral part of the process and I've spent a large amount of time working with Puppet and grunt to automate builds and deployment.

Duties have taken me from being the Lead Application Developer in charge of team of five, to being the primary network and system administrator for the company, and everywhere in between.I manage a team building a Java Swing based court case management system named CASETrack, used by eight counties in Indiana. Using PHP and MySQL, I generated several websites and other internal web applications including CASEView, a public court records search engine, to replace a legacy J2EE system. I created an object oriented web based Point of Sale system with PHP that is adaptable to any storefront, currently utilized in a thrift store run by NASA's non-profit company, NASA Education.Other PHP projects include an E-Filing system used by the Ho-Chunk Nation Trial Court to handle court filings and proceedings electronically, and a bid procurement system that assists researchers in finding government contracts.I have driven numerous desktop publishing projects (logo creation, flyers, posters, certificates), trained other team members, and ensured that the team met their deadlines.I utilized Solaris, AIX and Linux servers to host PHP and Java applications. Tools used were Apache for PHP and Glassfish and Tomcat for Java Applications. Using Perl, I wrote an incremental database update script to parse COBOL flat files and update a MySQL database without user interaction, and updated existing batch scripts to perform more efficiently.I built a Drupal site for a Community Health Fair organized by several non-profit organizations, and collected blood donor registrations through forms created by utilizing the Drupal forms API.

Built and maintained company websites and intranet applications. Built servers and workstations from parts to meet budget constraints. Setup DNS, Mail and websites, all hosted onsite running on Linux. Built a PHP point of sale system to manage the company's invoicing, and vendor purchasing. This system is currently used by all employees and handles day-to-day operations. Other duties include print advertising, and graphic design. I created a new logo for the company and designed and implemented their website.

Worked with a team to design and develop an online store using PHP and MySQL hosted on a Linux platform. The site was used to manage inventory and process online orders for barcode equipment including printers, scanners and a variety of other computer products. Security was implemented using SSL on Apache. Credit card processing was done utilizing an API from the payment processing company. Other duties included several projects focused on print and email advertising.
