I started in this industry in 1996 at Wolpac as a design on the floor pattern maker, designing and hand building patterns. This includes but not limited to seat pallet prototypes, wood mock ups of injection molded details and assemblies, urethane details and split molds, base dunnage, trays . Working hand in hand with production, assisting with form conditions and trouble shooting hard to form tools. Also experience with tooling capabilities and limitations. 10 years managing the prototype and tooling department for Sur-form, When the industry changed from design on the floor to design on the screen and cnc cut patterns I then took my experience to the screen with solid works. The experience i have with forming, tooling and understanding the limitations of sheet plastic as well as the pattern makers tricks of the trade gives me a unique advantage in design, limiting rework and ultimately saving time and money. Understanding the tooling in injection mold, urethane details gives me an advantage in designing the parts and assemblies, My knowledge of the different types of plastics also helps, this ranges from trays, basic details, to development of any plastic product.Conceptual ideas, density studies, logistics, safe shipment,cost savings is the #1 goal. Time means everything in this Industry, I strive daily to find new ways to save time and money while producing the best possible solution to the ever changing material handling Industry.1997 Sur-Fom was established.I was the only pattern maker for Sur-Form handling all aspects of development. working closely with Ed Stacey to build the reputation and company. as we grew departments were established. I continued as manager of prototype and tooling until late 2006. When i started running cad.I continue today as lead design for vacuum form assisting prototype, tooling, production, sales, estimating departments with all aspects of day to day activity.
