By December 2016, we were able to synthesize a membrane that obtained around 99% oil/water emulsion separation efficiency in acidic, basic, and salty conditions.Responsibilities and Achievements:-Monitored lab safety for team members including Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) was worn at all times, experiments were conducted with proper ventilation, waste chemicals were placed in correct waste containers, and work areas were cleaned before the team left the lab-Ensured team deliverables were completed on time throughout the semester and weekly lab data was recorded and analyzed-Performed separation tests with synthesized membrane and analyzed data pertaining to separation efficiency, flow rate through membrane, and the hydrophilicity of the membrane-Integrated team results with other project teams at weekly project meetings-Final paper accepted to be published in the Royal Society of Chemistry Journal.
