I joined Burlan Manufacturing, LLC in December 2016 as a Cost Accountant. I was later was promoted to Senior Cost Accountant, and then promoted again to Assistant Controller. I relocated from Kalamazoo, MI to Charlotte, NC when joining Burlan. Burlan is a privately held company in the textile industry. Before Burlan, I was the Cost Analyst the Janesville Acoustics, Battle Creek location. Janesville is a division of the publicly traded Jason Inc. Along with being the Cost Analyst, I was also acting as the Assistant Controller. Janesville specializes in fiber solutions for automotive insulation, both a tier l and tier ll supplier. Other experience includes work as a Staff Accountant for Terra Contracting after being promoted from a Project Accountant. I worked for Terra from July 2013 - December 2015. I also worked for Thomson Reuters through July 2013 after graduating from Western Michigan University in the spring of 2012. I graduated with a 3.69 GPA, a major in Accounting and a minor in General Business.     I work closely with the Controller and CFO throughout the month and month-end procedures. I prepare upwards of 30 monthly journal entries ranging from rent allocations across divisions to payroll accruals to inventory adjustments. I have built and sustain several monthly reports for monthly and quarterly financial meetings for the executive team. These include an overtime analysis down to the specific employee, freight expenses per division and several others. I use my advanced excel skills to combine multiple reports from multiple sources through vlookups and pivot tables to provide easy to read summaries/charts/tables.I am also involved with the daily setup/updating of our Bill of Materials. We are currently have two of our 7 divisions on a perpetual inventory. I am one of 4 team members to lead in the implementation of new software to implement a standard cost inventory system for the other divisions over the next two years.

    I prepare monthly journal entries and reconciliations while closing the month. These can range anywhere from accrued holiday and vacation entries, to intangibles amortization. Included with our month end procedures is balancing the financial statements and reviewing closely to the monthly budgets. Based on any possible variances between the forecast and actual figures, we prepare a "Bridge" explaining in detail which accounts, what reasons, and by how much we missed our forecast.I work directly with our controller in preparing, maintaining, and re-forecasting the monthly budgets against the yearly budget. To assist tracking our daily/weekly/monthly operations against our forecasts and budget, I run various daily, weekly and monthly reports tracking costs and revenues. I analyze these reports for unexpected variances and gather proper explanations for any discrepancies. We then use these reports to predict potential setbacks or areas where we are exceeding expectations to delegate resources to another product.I track the individual costs of all products either purchased or created, including all raw materials, work in progress items and finished goods. I track the material costs, direct labor, overhead labor and freight when applicable. I also manage the bill of materials for all products produced in our plant. I work with our engineering team to provide the financial guidance for possible adjustments to current processes and if we need to re-evaluate the elements involved in the production of each part.
