I worked in a team with 5 other students for ENGS 89/90, the capstone design course at Thayer School of Engineering. In this capacity, we worked as consultants for Hypertherm on a project to identify, classify and quantify the chemicals that are released during plasma cutting. Our final deliverable included a scientific report detailing background research, methodology, results and conclusions. I led the construction of our own research system and helped design the physical test protocols. We were awarded the John C. Woodhouse Engineering Design prize for demonstrating innovation and ingenuity in creating the most inexpensive but effective research equipment.

I assisted engineers in preparing AutoCAD MEP and Revit drawings of mechanical systems, performed design calculations and sizing of mechanical systems, assisted with field investigations and construction site visits, and prepared official documents aligned with the Syska standard.

Worked a part-time internship at SSI the Fall of 2016, which led to a full-time internship the Summer of 2017 and part-time (while I take classes) for Fall 2017. During my time here, I taught myself Eagle and used the software to design custom PCB's for geophysical data collection, designed remote camera monitoring equipment on Solidworks and aided in the assembly of ERT (Electrical Resistivity Tomography) monitoring systems. I used manufacturer cut sheets to order PCB components, tested and de-bugged circuits on breadboards before implementing them on PCBs, created BOMs on Excel, and utilized proper version control for long-term digital design.

Machine Shop

I worked as a Teaching Assistant in the Thayer School Machine Shop. In this capacity, I assisted other engineering students and professors in fabricating custom mechanical parts for a variety of different applications. I have been trained on vertical mills, lathes, bandsaws, laser-cutters, and other fabrication instruments.

Dartmouth College

Re-designed and fully fabricated a fleet of small electric cars (1' Aluminum L-bracket chassis, 12V motor, etc.) used to teach students the principles of control theory. Also developed CRBasic code for an NR01 Radiometer to be used in Greenland ice sheet research.

Cooper Landing, Ak

I started working at Drifters Lodge as an extra hand for work the summer after my sophomore year in high school. My job included taking the trash out for the entire lodge every day, lighting the lodge fire every night, assisting the fishing guides during busy trips, driving premium clients to and from Anchorage, Seward and Homer, working construction and maintenance projects around the lodge, and generally being available for help whenever and wherever it was needed. The next summer, I worked as a hiking guide for trails around the Kenai Peninsula, helped construct several new guide lodging huts, and stepped up as an assistant guide for the walk-in trips. I returned to Kenai River Drifter's Lodge in the summer of 2015 as a full-time fly-fishing guide. This job involved incredible amounts of responsibility. On the river, I had to ensure client safety on a salmon stream in brown bear territory while also teaching (mostly) beginners the technicalities of fly-fishing on a small river. I had to develop and practice group management and social skills in order to provide high-quality trips. All 15 employees lived on property at the lodge which required that we all worked together to create a harmonious environment during an incredibly stressful few months. The summer was incredibly rewarding, as I got to work in a professional setting with others doing something that I love.
