Chief System Engineer
Landing Systems Chief Engineer: Engineer unique, original and complex landing systems for all types of aircraft. Provide strategic technical direction and vision for landing systems, landing gears, wheels, brakes and brake control systems, that are dominated by complex electronic, mechanical and hydraulic subsystems to operate at the highest levels of safety.
Retired Chief Engineer In Aerospace And Defense
Chief Engineer
Engineer
Contracted to provide autonomous electric vehicle expertise, guidance and detailed engineering.
Sr. Staff Engineer
Within the UTC Aerospace Systems: Brake Control and Electric Brake Systems Group, I create, document and implement standard engineering processes and methods. These are based on past program work to specify requirements for complex aircraft systems.
Manager, It Application Support
Manager of Applications: Responsible for plant-wide business and engineering software applications & support. Application software was everything from large MRP system to heat treat database. Expense and capital expenses exceeded $1 million.
Manager, Engineering Computer Systems
Manager of all technical computing needs at the facility - mini-supercomputer, 45 workstations and 2 other large servers. Responsible for 3-D solid modeling selection and implementation, large capital and expense budgets, direct reports, etc.
Supervisor
As supervisor, my responsibilities included the role of principal electrical engineer responsible for the conception, design and development of data acquisition, control systems, and specifying the design and development of new, one-of-a-kind, large-scale test machines for testing aircraft braking systems. Supervisory responsibilities included eight Sr.Technicians, Sr. Programmer/Technicians and Electrical Engineer in everything from trouble-shooting large-scale machines made up of complex mechanical, electro-mechanical, electronic and hydraulic systems all to the component level. I led the design and development of complex, in-house, real-time data acquisition and control systems. These systems are highly reliable and operated 7 days a week, 24 hours a day in a harsh environment. The software, although complex, was bulletproof. During my tenure, I led the automation and refurbishment of seven very large test dynamometers (~$7M each) that included complex electronics, PLCs, hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical systems. My group was responsible for the design and development of strain gage, thermocouple and dynamic data acquisition systems (traceable to NBS) for 23 test sites. The real-time systems were designed in-house to perform many complex numerical derivations. These systems also have considerable I/O (AI, AO, DI, DI and pulse inputs) and over 12 jobs and 30 sub-processes operating simultaneously. Additionally, they integrate fail-safe, manual, automatic and data acquisition systems into a single real-time system with full graphic and touch screen displays communicating on a LAN, the first ever at a Goodrich facility. I have designed systems using real-time operating systems or none at all. I developed statistical and differential calculus methods to accurately define errors within a system and the sensitivity of variables to the overall accuracy. I'm an expert in data acquisition and measurements.
Sr. Staff Engineer
Consultant for FAA on aircraft braking on contaminated runway surfaces. R&D activities lasted seven years to develop a transport aircraft testbed, methods to create and measure braking effects, analyses of testing results and simulation/modeling of landing systems.Engineering of complex systems...automatic controls, unique one of a kind machinery, solar powered hydraulic systems, large gate valves and control and robotics generally used within very large dams and reservoirs.
