Young Voices is an organization that works with high school-aged youth, predominantly BIPOC youth from Central Falls, Pawtucket, and Providence, to fight for education equity. The year-round transformational leadership program creates youth-led spaces to elevate youth voice in policymaking that permanently impact the future of our world and the programs ensure that youth hone their essential skills and prepare them for post-secondary education and career.- Serve as principal grant writer in collaboration with the Young Voices team, youth, and Board of Directors to develop relationships and funding streams that serve Young Voices’ mission and growth- Participate in strategic planning and key initiatives to understand the organization’s trajectory to inform fundraising strategies- Manage cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities for individuals, foundations, and corporations- Forecast revenue with annual and quarterly projections

Young Voices is a grassroots organization focused on training urban youth across RI to become powerful advocates for systemic change. We currently operate out of downtown Providence and three high schools in Providence and Pawtucket. Through our year-round Leadership Transformation Academy (LTA) curriculum, young people gain powerful skills in public speaking, networking, policy analysis, critical thinking, and the ability to communicate effectively with high-level leaders. As part of their leadership training, our youth have testified at State House and Board of Education hearings on a variety of statewide education issues. At the district level, we support youth to have an authentic voice in improving their schools. - Worked with the staff team to implement Leadership Transformation Academy (LTA) at main Providence site, as well as an intensive workforce program during the summer - Partnered with program staff to align lessons with the organization’s mission and support the organization’s goals - Coordinated on-site College Access and Success program for a cohort of 15-20 participating seniors per academic year- Served as lead grant writer and reporter to partnering foundations and corporate sponsors

The College Success team promotes postsecondary persistence and retention for first-generation college students at each of Rhode Island's three major public institutions in the form of personal advising, workshops, and transactional information.

The Crusade Advisor at Classical High School provides postsecondary access and awareness to over 200 students from first-generation, low-income backgrounds in the form of college planning, assistance with financial aid documentation, SAT and college application waivers, and organized visits to university campuses.

The After-School Heroes Project Leader organizes and coordinates a complete service-learning curriculum for forty middle school students in Providence. Responsibilities include leading recruitment at participating schools, establishing partnerships with local community nonprofits, and formulating youth leadership development topics centered on social issues.

A Young Heroes Corps Member works in a team to recruit and create a Saturday service-learning program for over 100 Providence and Warwick youth. Specialized roles included organizing recruitment presentations at local elementary and middle schools, cataloging interested participants in a database, and designing civic-minded curriculum centered on social issues such as poverty and violence in the community.

Organized and raised funds for a nonprofit political action committee advocating for environmental issues. Gathered letters, endorsements, and votes eco-friendly political candidates at the state and national level. Participated in a month-long GOTV initiative in Pittsburgh, PA leading up to the 2008 general election.

Tutored students individually on how to improve their writing in content, organization and grammar. Worked with ESL, learning disabled and other special needs students to improve composition and study skills. Performed receptionist duties such as keeping the appointment schedule, answering the phone and filing.
