I came out of college with engineering and science degrees expecting to be a career long scientist. Within a couple years I realized I can’t see my career in this trajectory. I fell into a job in technology, when technology started to BOOM! It’s been 19 years and I still love this job because it has purpose, it has life, it has energy and it has constant change. We use mathematics to solve the problems of today as we did the problems of years past. The mathematical formulas that fuel technological innovation. I have seen amazing new innovations in a relatively short period. I think back to my early days at Sun Microsystem where Scott McNealy talked about the “Big Fricking Web-Tone Switch”. A revolutionary concept that came of age and years later has changed the way we view, interpret and process information.
