Human Resources Analyst I

I served the Human Resources Disability Access Office. I served the departments of Behavioral Health and the Assessor County Clerk Recorder in administering the interactive process for employees who are requesting a medical leave of absence or an accommodation due to their qualified disability, this is evaluated under the American Disability Act (ADA) and the Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA). Employees have the right to an interactive process under ADA and FEHA laws once they have exhausted or did not qualify for protected time under the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), California Family Rights Act (CFRA), and / or Pregnancy Disability Leave (PDL). I informed and guided the employee, supervisor, and manager throughout the interactive process which ultimately ensured that the County of Riverside followed ADA and FEHA laws to minimize the County of Riverside’s liability, given a case became litigated. The interactive process could end with the employee returning to work at full capacity or an accommodated capacity, it could also end by the employee being separated from their position which is considered a no-fault separation. I maintained interactive process notes which detailed the entire interactive process with myself, the employee, their supervisor, and their manager. As a result of this process, I created and issued accommodation agreements, temporary accommodation agreements, acknowledgments of restrictions without accommodations, medical leave of absences, letters describing the discussions had regarding the employee’s medical status and outlook, letters to the employee describing their supervisor’s and manager’s decision regarding their request, disability retirement applications, and separation letters. A paper file and electronic file was maintained for each case that was given to me, my case load was about 20 – 30 cases during any given time. I also processed none-medical leave of absence requests for employees.
