Ever since I was a little kid, I've always had a fascination with both puzzles and numbers. I still remember the first time I got my hands on a rubik cube and how I spent endless hours playing and tinkering with the cube trying to figure out patterns that would allow me to solve the cube. My love for numbers and puzzles then carried onto my elementary and high school days where I would represent my school in numerous math competitions as well as join an after school club that worked on solving puzzles together. When I wasn’t in school I worked two part time jobs, one as a lifeguard for Richmond aquatics and the other one as a private tutor. As a member of Richmond Aquatics team, I learned numerous life saving techniques but more importantly I also learned to work in a group setting where teamwork and communication are the most important factors for success. As a private tutor I taught primarily mathematics and physics to high school students.My passion in mathematics than carried over into my education at UBC. As a mathematics student at UBC, I learned numerous skills such as complex algorithms,linear programming, cryptography, and much more. Along the way of completing my bachelors in mathematics, I also discovered my love for coding which resulted in me learning multiple coding languages such as Java, C++, html, css, and javascript. Now as a fifth year university student that is just about to reach graduation, I look forward to finding a job in either the field of mathematics or computer science and continue to learn along the way.
