Red Oak Community School provides high quality eSTEM education that focuses on environmental awareness, curiosity, community participation, and personal responsibility. As the ad hoc member of the Board of Directors, Mr. Cherry provides an independent perspective for operations and policy development, and is an ardent supporter of the excellent staff of educators. Mr. Cherry also chairs the Health & Safety Committee, which includes experienced scientists and a pediatrician. Red Oak has been very successful at maintaining a safe learning environment for students and staff throughout the COVID pandemic through following the current science and instigating best practices for masking, distancing and enhanced ventilation. Mr. Cherry has also been a guest educator at the school conducting in-person learning experiences related to ecological appreciation, woodworking, genetics and Antarctic adventuring.

Hexagon Environmental Solutions LLC is dedicated to providing unbiased science-based evaluation of existing environmental conditions. Projects undertaken by Hexagon range from litigation support using multivariate statistics, to site characterization and Risk Assessment on contaminated sites, to pro-bono evaluation of potential exposure to hazardous constituent vulnerable populations. As always, the goal is to provide an unbiased, science-based evaluation of environmental chemistry, exposure/risk assessment, physical conditions, and temporal/spatial relationships. When placed in an appropriate context, it is possible to more effectively evaluate real risks and identify solutions to environmental issues affecting a range of stakeholders.

Principal Scientist duties were primarily dedicated to technical applications related to Environmental Forensics, Emergency Response, Chemical Fate & Transport, Risk Communication and Litigation Support.A variety of market sectors were served in this role, including transportation, petroleum, chemicals, manufacturing, and energy. Specific applications of forensic evaluation and statistical analysis included assessment of Manufactured Gas Plant (MGP) sites, unraveling multi-source petroleum releases, evaluation of degradation and migration of solvent releases, modeling chemical loss and transformation during emergency response actions.

Provided a wide range of senior-level expert services to Fortune 500 clients, including site characterization, soil/sediment/air/water monitoring, risk assessment, contaminant fate modeling, environmental forensics. Participated in multiple Emergency Response actions related to chemical spills (including fire/explosion), with special emphasis on mitigating risks to communities and response workers as well as long-term evaluation of environmental consequences and remediation. Successfully demonstrated that Natural Attenuation would remediate several sites as fast or faster than active remediation, while simultaneously protecting human health and the environment. Participated in projects in multiple states in the US, plus Canada, Chile, Brazil, England, Italy and Belgium

Participated in multiple Brownfield Redevelopment projects in Ohio, including site characterization, human health and ecological risk assessment, chemical fate and transport modeling, vapor intrusion and indoor air assessments. Served as an Ohio EPA Certified Professional (CP) on multiple Ohio VAP Projects, as sell as providing human health risk assessment or other site characterization activities on projects for other VAP CPs. Also provided litigation support with expert reports, deposition and court testimony on several cases.
