Industry editors have dubbed him the “Mixmaster”.Cohler’s extensive experience in both residential and commercial interiors is seen in projects throughout the US, Europe, and the Caribbean. His award-winning product design includes textiles and furniture for Lee Jofa, lighting for Circa Lighting with Visual Comfort, luxury fireplace surrounds for Chesney’s, MacRae and rugs for Stark Carpet. Cohler can be especially proud that his Lee Jofa “Tyler Crewel” was selected for the White House family dining room.Cohler is the recipient of numerous design industry awards including:• Elle Décor’s annual A-List• “Top 100” designers issue in House Beautiful• Circle of Excellence Award from the International Foodservice Distributors Association• Designer of the Year by Traditional Home and Decoration and Design Building – New York.His work has been featured in international and domestic publications such as, Traditional Home, New York Times, and Veranda. Most recently Cohler’s design for a Gramercy Park Triplex was featured in the February 2016 issue of Architectural Digest. He has also made numerous television appearances on CBS, HGTV, NBC, PBS and “The View” on ABC.A well-respected keynote speaker on interior design, art, and collecting, Cohler holds an MS in Historic Preservation from Columbia University’s School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation and a Certificate from Harvard’s Graduate School of Design.He acts as the consulting creative director to Kindel and is an adjunct professor in the architectural studies program at Hobart College and William Smith College.His book, “Cohler on Design,” illustrates synergies among art, film, fashion, architecture and interiors (published by Monacelli Press, Fall of 2012). He is working on his next book – “Cohler on Art”.
