In 2016, I changed my undergraduate major from video game design to sport management. I have always loved both sports and video games and found out very quickly that creating video games was not for me. At the time there was no path that split my two passions so I chose sport management as my new major.After my first co-op with Steel Sports, I really grew into the marketing and talent management side of the sports world, but I still felt that something was missing. Later that year I was presented with the opportunity to conduct a feasibility study on the creation of a varsity esports team at Drexel. The result of the research I had done created a new major at Drexel University: Esport Management. During the time in which the curriculum for this major was being created, I was on my second co-op with the Philadelphia Union, an MLS franchise in which I honed my talent management skills even more as I worked with the first team players nearly every single day for a 6 month period. By the end of my time with the Union, the curriculum was set for the Esport Management degree and it was a no brainer for me to being my course load for the degree.Now, in my final year of college, I have worked for the Drexel Athletic Center as a Facility Manager. Due to the pandemic, my role was changed in that I began marketing for the reopening of the facility and helped the student staff become resituated. I plan to graduate from Drexel University in March with a Sport Management Major and Esport management minor. I have aspirations to work directly in marketing or talent management for a professional Esport organization.
