I was responsible for managing an IT Infrastructure that supported 2300 employees in 56 offices and 2 inpatient care facilities. My daily duties included but were not limited to: working with outside vendors, project management, budgeting, purchasing, staffing, working with management and peers to identify and implement IT initiatives, asset management, managing the Cisco based network, oversight of all help desk operations, mobile device management, monitoring and maintaining over 100 WAN connections, overseeing management of all servers and storage in the data center, AS400 maintenance, environmental controls, physical security, installation and management of IP surveillance network, Exchange email management, proactive upgrading, backups, patch management, staff training and any other IT related tasks. Having a team of seven software developers on staff I was involved in the software development lifecycle and worked closely with developers and DBAs to ensure goals were being met and projects completed on time. I worked closely with management and peers to help facilitate process change and to develop updated systems that leveraged technology to improve efficiency. I led a team of software developers that created a home-grown Electronic Health Record that achieved federal certification from the ONC allowing us to become a certified software provider. I was responsible for transitioning to the new health record organization wide, which meant evaluating and preparing the LAN/WAN, PCs, scanners, Wi-Fi, servers, disaster recovery and most importantly training the staff. I was also responsible for managing a for profit subsidiary that developed and sold software to other Behavioral Health organizations in the state, including the electronic health record.
