  • Jefferson Parish District Attorney'S Office
    Assistant District Attorney, Trials Division
Jefferson Parish District Attorney'S Office Apr 2021 - Present
    Jefferson Parish, Louisiana
As an Assistant District Attorney in the Trials Division, I successfully tried 11 jury trials to verdict in my first year with the office, and have tried over 20 cases since April of 2021. I aim to try the cases that matter, concerning the crimes that impact our community and victims of crime the most, specifically violent crimes such as murder, attempted murder, and armed robbery. I also successfully prosecuted 6 sexual assault trials on charges ranging from first degree rape to carnal knowledge of a juvenile, some of which were without the ability to provide the victim's testimony at trial, sparing the victim and victim's family the unfortunate challenge of the trial process but securing a just and accountable verdict nonetheless. Since starting with the office, I have served in two different Divisions of court. I also have taken especial pride to share my prior experience and knowledge with younger assistant district attorneys, bringing them on as second chair assistants for trials particularly when a trial presents an ideal opportunity to further there experience and help move us forward as an office.By no means have I reached my full potential as a trial attorney, as I am constantly learning new ways to improve and reassessing my prior skills in the courtroom.

  • Orleans Parish District Attorney'S Office
    Assistant District Attorney
Orleans Parish District Attorney'S Office Oct 2017 - Apr 2021
    New Orleans, Louisiana, United States
Hired into the magistrate and screening division, a standard training and onboarding role for new hires, in two months I was assigned to Trials Division, particularly as an junior ada in Section K of Orleans Parish Criminal District Court before Judge Arthur Hunter. With regular trial practice, I was promoted less than 6 months later to be the senior ADA in section J under Judge Darryl Derbigny, who held the largest docket in the building of over 500 cases. While routinely changing out junior assistant district attorney who were not able to manage the overwhelming caseload I was able to reduce the docket efficiently and effectively to under 300 cases in under 1 year before being reassigned. I proudly remained an active resource to the ADA who replaced me in Section J who later was the best man in my wedding. Following Section J, I was assigned to Section H before the Honorable Camille Buras, then assigned to Section G where then ad hoc Judge Dennis Waldron had been appointed. I fondly remember this time as the most demanding and rewarding time of my early career where I tried as the first chair attorney 8 felony jury trials while hosting several different junior ADA's as office turnover remained a consistent challege. Prior to the beginning of the Covid-19 Pandemic, I was made a homicide prosecutor and remainined in that capacity as I would be transferred to other sections of court prior to leaving the office, this included Section F before Judge Robin Pittman, Section K before ad hoc appointee Hunter Harris, Section L before Judges Franz Zibilich and Angel Harris. My final assignment as an Orleans Parish Assistant District Attorney was to Section I before Judge Karen Herman who was elected to the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals shortly after my departure to the Jefferson Parish DA's Office.
