  • Department Of Justice/Bureau Of Atf
    Special Agent/Senior Special Agent
    Department Of Justice/Bureau Of Atf 1990 - 1996
    Greater Los Angeles Area
As a former street agent, operations officer, group supervisor, Resident Agent in Charge, and acting Assistant Special Agent in Charge and acting Special Agent in Charge of the Los Angeles Field Division, my enforcement and investigative efforts in Los Angeles focused heavily on violent criminal street gangs, armed violent offenders and career criminals, narcotics traffickers, narco-terrorists, violent gangs, and domestic and international arms traffickers. Having grown up in Los Angeles, I had the background and first hand knowledge of the violent crime that plagued the communities. During my career as a street agent, I served as a Special Response Team (SRT) member/operator for two years, training for high risk warrant service and arrests. The SRT of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) was formed to manage the inherent risk associated with the investigation and apprehension of some of the country’s most violent criminals. This is accomplished through promoting survivability by protecting the public, the Bureau’s agents, other law enforcement officers and subjects.

    Program Manager
Department Of Justice/Bureau Of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, And Explosives Jan 2003 - Jan 2005
    Field Management Staff, Washington, Dc
I developed, coordinated, and implemented policies and procedures for ATF at Bureau Headquarters (HQ), Washington, DC. I coordinated short and long-range Field Operations (FO) and strategic plans on a national level, conducted manpower and productivity studies, and tracked and evaluated criminal enforcement and industry operations activities, as well as made recommendations for needed revisions in conjunction with other directorates. I was also responsible for staffing and personnel-related issues affecting the directorate. I assessed, monitored, and evaluated phases of the consolidated enforcement planning process. I was responsible for directives management, variance requests, management briefings, annual reports, management control assessments, and budget business cases. I also responded to Senate and House Congressional inquiries, and created initiatives and proposals as they related to combating crimes of violence. In concert with ATF's Integrated Violence Reduction Strategy (IVRS), I was part of a team that devised a plan to address the growing problem of firearms related homicides and other violent crime that exist in a number of our cities. The plan called for the implementation of violent crime units. These units were comprised of federal, state, and local law enforcement that through the use of new innovative technology in combination with analytical investigative resources worked to reduce violent crime in cities experiencing a sudden increase in homicide and violent firearms crime over the past several years.
