Designed Main Crane System (MCS) for the Chernobyl nuclear cleanup effort as well as top running overhead cranes of up to 600 tons capacity for the nuclear power industry during my work at these two related companies. Entailed the design, verification, drafting, and GD&T of structural girders and trolleys etc., hoisting equipment and machinery design including gear/gearbox design and all aspects of the mechanical single failure proof crane components (SFP) and systems for these cranes. Specification of required NDE testing and weld design. These cranes were designed to meet the requirements of NUREG-0554 of the NRC (nuclear regulatory commission) for use while lifting critical loads including seismic qualification. We met that specification through application of EDR-1 (XSAM).

I was employed in the design of single failure proof overhead cranes of up to 300 ton capacity for the nuclear power industry. This entailed the design, verification, drafting, and GD&T of structural girders and trolleys etc, hoisting equipment and of all aspects of the mechanical single failure proof components and systems for these cranes to relevant specifications (CMAA-70, ASME NOG-1, NUREG-0554 etc). At C&D Zodiac I was employed in the engineering design role for portions of the interiors package of the Boeing 787 aircraft (specifically passenger door linings for all sections). This involved creating iterative designs while working onsite with Boeing in their Everett design office. It entailed composite panel design, injection mold design and machined component design as well as surface modeling work done to create the ICMs for the door surfaces. My responsibilities included the entire life cycle of the parts from interface liaison with Boeing, designing, creating aircraft installation packages to shipment of finished end item assemblies. I used Catia V5 and Smarteam in my work and currently have 5000+ hours of Catia, Smarteam and Enovia

At TSI I was employed in the design of Oriented Strand Board (OSB) finishing line equipment. This involved many aspects of the product development life cycle including liaison with our customers, clarifying contract details, plant layout, process considerations and all aspects of the design of the equipment including stress analysis, design, drawing production, and GD&T analysis. This equipment included machinery to crosscut, rip, convey, sort, and stack OSB materials from the forming line to finished bundle as well as large rotary dryers for drying raw strand materials. My responsibilities also included working closely with our vendors and customers to provide on time delivery of equipment and installation packages. In addition I was tasked with being the Project Manager for two of the finishing line projects at TSI.I used AutoCAD 2004 (solid modeling) and AutoCAD 2000 (2D) in my work at TSI.

I performed the detailed design of components for the Airborne Laser System (ABL) and the Wildcat laser system. STI is a contractor working on the laser module of the ABL, which is a Boeing 747 mounted laser system designed to intercept theater ballistic missiles. Wildcat is a laser sensor for the detection and identification of atmospheric particulate contaminants. In my work for STI I used Mechanical Desktop 4.0 and AutoCAD 2000 extensively. My employment with Electroimpact was in the position of mechanical engineer designing tooling which included automated riveting machines and test cells for aerospace R&D applications. My position there entailed design of complete tools for the Airbus A340-600 E4100 wing assembly machine and the Automated Drill And Probe Tool (ADAPT 830). This included component selection and design of metal and plastic parts (including plastic components to facilitate large cost savings). I used 3 different CAD packages in my design work at EI (Mechanical Desktop 3.0, AutoCAD 14, and Solidworks 98+). Because Electroimpact is ISO 9000 certified, I was responsible for documenting all aspects of my work on this equipment.
