I created a fully custom CMS to allow for creation of social health programs with arbitrary layouts, content types, themes, etc.

Unlock the door for the cable guy from your web browser at work.I define the technical architecture for the applications that homeowners use. I lead the software development team in implementing that architecture. These applications need to integrate with a long list of potential devices in the home, provide high availability and bandwidth for users around the world to interact with their homes, stream and record video, and a whole host of other features.*Webcam Video Service*I've developed a high-concurrency streaming video server for users to view and record webcams in their homes. In addition, cameras can be used as motion detectors and record video when motion is detected. The entire video server architecture is written in ruby and handles 1000s of simultaneous video streams / recordings.*Asynchronous communications pipeline*I've developed an evented communications system between the service and devices in users' homes. This system handles long waits between request and response without blocking the web server or background workers. It accomplishes this by handling device responses independently as events in an EventMachine reactor, matching them with requests, updating records, and notifying web browsers of the latest status from thermostats, cameras, window and door sensors, locks, etc. Wicked cool, super efficient, and it makes for a happy service. From a code maintenance point of view, programmers get to write requests and response handles in the same file, making it easy to understand flow.
